History From The Middle Podcast
Take action
Middle children don’t usually get to be the hero of the story. We’re not the eldest, calling the shots, or the youngest, getting away with everything. We’re the ones in between — watching, mediating, and noticing how everyone else’s story fits together. It turns out that isn’t such a bad way to approach history either.
Too often, history is told from the top — the kings, generals and winners — or from the bottom, through the people who experienced it. We’re interested in the middle;the go-betweens, the overlooked voices, and the moments when two sides had to actually talk to each other.
Each episode, we’ll explore a person, perspective or debate that can get lost when history is only told from one end.
Our aim is simple: to make history accessible, conversational and genuinely fun — so you finish every episode having learnt something new and, hopefully, had a laugh along the way.

Signal Score
What is Signal Score?
Signal Score ranks podcasts by meaningful discovery behavior, not by who is already biggest. It blends scout approvals, saves, shares, repeat engagement, and editorial review into one weighted score.
Ranking notes
- High-intent actions count more than passive traffic.
- Trusted scouts carry more weight than brand-new accounts.
- Recency can matter for discovery, but it is not treated as a proxy for quality.
- Per-user caps and distinct-actor rules limit gaming.
Signal Score is directional, not absolute. New shows can move quickly, established shows can cool off, and no score is paid placement.
