Everyone knows the legend. But how did the person become the legend?
A Life is a new narrative biography podcast exploring the extraordinary lives of the people who shaped our world, our culture and our imaginations.
From John Lennon and Elizabeth I to David Bowie, William Shakespeare, Marilyn Monroe, Jane Austen and many more, each life is told across five episodes, allowing the story to unfold properly, from childhood and family, through the experiences, relationships, triumphs and failures that shaped them, to the moment they became the person history remembers.
This isn't a list of dates, achievements and famous quotations. It's an attempt to get underneath the legend and find the human being who existed before the world knew their name.
Because the most interesting part of a famous life isn't necessarily what someone became.
It's how they became it.

Signal Score
What is Signal Score?
Signal Score ranks podcasts by meaningful discovery behavior, not by who is already biggest. It blends scout approvals, saves, shares, repeat engagement, and editorial review into one weighted score.
Ranking notes
- High-intent actions count more than passive traffic.
- Trusted scouts carry more weight than brand-new accounts.
- Recency can matter for discovery, but it is not treated as a proxy for quality.
- Per-user caps and distinct-actor rules limit gaming.
Signal Score is directional, not absolute. New shows can move quickly, established shows can cool off, and no score is paid placement.
