Every year, CPAs across the country have the same conversation with the same clients. What are you going to charge this year? It gets harder every time, because clients never see the work behind the return. They see the bill.

In 2014, Jeremy Lederer was a tax manager in Vail, Colorado, when he found a way to save a client $100,000. His managing partner told him, "We're not getting paid for that." Jeremy gave notice the next day, and that client became his first.

Since then he has built a different kind of practice. It sells the advice and gives away the compliance. It sets fees in advance on the value it expects to create. And it records the review meeting when the returns are done, because the news is good. He wrote the method down in The Zero Tax Strategy, with a foreword by Mark Kohler.

Better Clients for CPAs is Jeremy talking shop with the profession he still loves. Each episode is short and built around one idea a firm owner can use this month: how to spot the right clients, how to price the work, how to deliver what you promised, and how to build the relationships that send better clients your way.

For education only. This show isn't tax, legal, or investment advice, and every situation depends on its own facts.

Jeremy Lederer has been a CPA since 2007 and a business owner since 2014, the year he left a firm that wouldn't act on a $100,000 savings he had found for a client. That client became his first. He has since built a tax strategy practice around advice instead of preparation, recognized on the Inc. 5000 list in 2023 and 2024.

Jeremy is the author of The Zero Tax Strategy, with a foreword by Mark Kohler, and has been featured on Bloomberg, Fox Business, CNBC, and American Entrepreneur with Kevin Harrington. Before accounting, he played Division I golf at the University of Denver, and he still competes. His mission is to help redirect $1 billion from taxes back to entrepreneurs and their communities by 2035.

Signal Score

What is Signal Score?

Signal Score ranks podcasts by meaningful discovery behavior, not by who is already biggest. It blends scout approvals, saves, shares, repeat engagement, and editorial review into one weighted score.

Ranking notes

  • High-intent actions count more than passive traffic.
  • Trusted scouts carry more weight than brand-new accounts.
  • Recency can matter for discovery, but it is not treated as a proxy for quality.
  • Per-user caps and distinct-actor rules limit gaming.

Signal Score is directional, not absolute. New shows can move quickly, established shows can cool off, and no score is paid placement.
